Canon The canon, in four substrates

Four substrates. One record.

Everything in the canon sits on one of four substrates. Live Ink marks a request before it goes out. Carnac asks for the proof before an answer is used. Receipts sign what happened. Packages are the part ICE could sell, and each one is built from the other three.

People decide. Hive records what was asked for, what was shown and what happened.

Live board

Each substrate, read from the canon as this page loads.

The states come straight from the canon registry. The record counts come from the example streams, and every record is checked in your browser against its signature. Nothing you check leaves this page.

01

Live Ink

Marks the parts of a request that touch licensed data, a client or an action, before it is sent. Every word stays as typed.

What it does not prove It marks a request. It doesn't decide what the request may do.

Sold as Part of a package, where the request itself matters.

    Carnac

Asks for the proof before an answer is exported, sent or used for an order. A person releases it.

What it does not prove It doesn't say an answer is right. The person who released it is on the record.

Sold as Part of a package, where an answer leaves the desk.

      03

      Receipts

Signs what happened, outside the system that did it, so anyone can check it later without trusting the sender.

What it does not prove A signature shows a record didn't change after signing. It doesn't show the values were right.

Sold as The record under every package. An ICE buyer doesn't buy it on its own.

        Packages

        New substrate

Turns the other three into something a buyer can buy: one commercial use, with its rights, delivery, usage and bill.

What it does not prove A package isn't a new primitive or receipt type. It's a composition of the other three.

Sold as Nine suggested uses, for ICE to test against what its customers want.

          How they interact

It's one loop. Each substrate feeds the next.

Live Ink's cues set how much proof Carnac asks for. Whatever Carnac asked for, saw and released gets signed. Signed records reconcile into one use and one bill. The licence in force then sets which cues Live Ink raises next time. Select any substrate to trace its links.

          Follow one use

Four real signed records, one for each substrate.

Step through a use from request to bill. Each step is a signed record from the example sets, checked in your browser against the demo public key. Change a field and the check fails. The records come from separate fictional example sets, so the firm names differ. In a real test they would share one use id.

              Suggested uses

Nine suggested uses, and which substrates each one draws on.

A filled mark means today's working demonstration uses that substrate. A ring means the written profile would use it. Select a package to light up its path on the map.

What this is, and what it is not

              The limits, stated plainly.

              One demo key

Every record here is fictional and signed with one Hive demo key (hive-aha-demo-b661257fe861). That makes Hive the signer, so nothing here is independent.

              No ICE connection

Carnac, Live Ink and Receipts are built and running on Hive. None of them has run on an ICE path, and the packages are demonstrations and written profiles.

              A package is a composition

The fourth substrate adds no receipt type and no endpoint. It's listed in the canon as a composite so that the count of primitives stays honest.

              Hive records

Hive never decides, blocks or sits in the path, and it holds no customer data. A person releases an answer, and Hive records that they did.

Canon entry: #licensed-use-packages. Registry block: substrates in hive-canon-registry.json. ICE dashboard: /ice/watch/.
