End User License Agreement

Section 1

Grant

Hive Civilization grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Hive verifier client and associated software development kits (SDKs) solely for the following purposes:

Verifying the authenticity and provenance of Hive-issued receipts.

Integrating Hive receipt verification and routing capabilities into your own applications and workflows.

Developing and testing against Hive-compatible interfaces using the provided SDKs.

This license does not grant you any right to use the licensed software for purposes outside those stated above. Any use in production requires an applicable Hive service agreement.

Section 2

Restrictions

You may not:

Redistribute the verifier client or SDKs — in source or binary form — to any third party without express written permission from Hive Civilization

Modify, replace, or substitute any cryptographic primitives embedded in the licensed software.

Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble sealed inspection algorithms or signing key infrastructure.

Use the software to forge, alter, backdate, or otherwise misrepresent receipts or cryptographic proofs.

Remove, obscure, or alter any attribution headers, license notices, or copyright notices embedded in the software.

Sublicense, rent, lease, or transfer the software or this license to any third party.

Section 3

Open Source Components

Certain components of the Hive client SDKs and verifier binaries may be governed by their own open source licenses. These include, without limitation, cryptographic primitives, build tooling, and serialization libraries.

A NOTICES file listing all applicable open source components, their licenses, and attribution requirements is bundled with each release. Your use of those components is governed by the respective license terms in the NOTICES file, which take precedence over this EULA for those specific components.

Section 4

Updates

Security updates: Applied automatically by default to verifier binaries. You may configure update behavior via your deployment settings, but disabling security updates is done at your own risk.

Feature updates: Opt-in. You control when feature updates are applied.

Breaking changes: Announced at least 60 days in advance via the developer changelog and registered operator email before a breaking change is released to stable channels.

Hive Civilization reserves the right to discontinue support for specific software versions with 90 days notice. Using an unsupported version may result in compatibility warnings from the verification endpoint.

Section 5

Telemetry

Telemetry is opt-in and disabled by default. Where enabled, the SDK transmits anonymized, aggregated metrics only — including verifier call counts, latency distributions, and SDK version — to assist with reliability engineering. No receipt content, agent identifiers, payload hashes, or personally identifiable information is included in telemetry.

To opt out of telemetry at any time, set the environment variable:

HIVE_NO_TELEMETRY=1

The opt-out flag is honored immediately and persistently for the duration of any process where it is set.

Section 6

Cryptographic Export Controls

The Hive verifier client and SDKs incorporate cryptographic functionality and may be subject to export control laws and regulations, including those administered by the United States Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and equivalent authorities in other jurisdictions.

You are solely responsible for determining whether your use, export, re-export, or import of the software complies with all applicable export control laws and regulations in your jurisdiction and in the jurisdictions of any intended recipients.

Hive Civilization makes no representation that the software is appropriate for use in every jurisdiction. Use of the software in any jurisdiction where such use is prohibited by applicable law is not permitted.

Section 7

Warranty Disclaimer & Liability Cap

The software is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Hive Civilization makes no warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hive Civilization's total liability to you for any claim arising from this EULA or use of the software is capped at one hundred US dollars (USD $100.00) or the amount you paid for the software in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

In no event will Hive Civilization be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. These limitations apply even if Hive Civilization has been advised of the possibility of such damages and to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Section 8

Termination

This license terminates automatically and immediately upon any breach of these terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the software and destroy all copies in your possession.

Termination of this license does not affect the continued cryptographic verifiability of receipts issued prior to termination. Receipts are self-certifying artifacts — their validity is anchored in the cryptographic proof at issuance and does not depend on continued access to the verifier client or an active license. This is a designed property of the Hive receipt format.

Section 9

Governing Law

This EULA is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from this EULA that is not resolved informally will be subject to the dispute resolution terms set forth in the Hive Civilization Terms of Service, which are incorporated by reference.
